The mission of the Centre Ophtalmologique Place de Paris is to provide the best possible treatment to its patients. Results and safety are top priorities. That is why the centre is equipped with two latest generation lasers.
Laser equipment
For laser treatments, the centre is equipped with the Alcon Wavelight Refractive Suite. It consists of two latest generation lasers, which are among the fastest in the world.
Unlike other femtosecond and excimer lasers, which operate as independent units, the FS200 and EX500 are connected to the diagnostic equipment via an intranet: the Wave-net. The entire LASIK procedure can therefore be programmed and designed according to software common to both lasers.
The EX500 and FS200 lasers are subject to a maintenance contract and are regularly checked to ensure proper operation.
FS200 femtosecond laser
This laser enables the creation of a thin corneal flap with high precision in only 6 seconds. The use of the femtosecond laser has many advantages in terms of safety and precision compared to a mechanical incision with a microkeratome.
Excimer EX500
This laser performs refractive sculpting of the cornea to treat the visual defect. It is an excimer laser with 500 Hz and thus enables the correction of one dioptre in 1.4 seconds. Thus, correcting a myopia of 5 diopters takes only 7 seconds. The EX500 has an “eye tracking” system that allows it to follow the micro-movements of the eye during treatment and also to compensate for cyclotorsion while lying down.
Diagnostic devices
The various diagnostic devices allow us to assess patients’ eyes and confirm suitability for laser treatment if there are no contraindications.
All of these devices are regularly maintained to ensure that they function properly.
WaveLight Topolyzer Vario
Creates an HD topography map of the front of the cornea based on 22,000 measurement points. The personalised laser treatment “Contoura Vison” is based on the data obtained. This device also performs pupillometry and iris recognition.
WaveLight Oculyzer Vario
Acquires data from the front and back of the cornea simultaneously and uses it to create a map of the thickness at each point: the tomographic map. This device is essential for the early detection of subclinical forms of keratoconus.
Cirrus HD-OCT 500 from Zeiss
Creates an accurate three-dimensional map of the stromal and epithelial layers of the cornea. It allows the examination of the characteristics of the epithelium, which in the case of early keratoconus may not yet show tomographically detectable changes.
This device also analyses the macula and the optic nerve.
Alcon Verion Biometer
Provides whole eye biometry and accurate measurement of keratometry, astigmatism and axis. It is equipped with several IOL formulas to optimise refractive outcomes.
Wavefront Nidek OPD scan III Aberometry
Measures the path of light rays through the optical system of the eye from the cornea to the retina. This allows the choice of treatment profile to be aligned with the different optical zones of the eye, as well as detecting lens irregularities that may influence the surgeon’s decisions.
