It is usually related to tissue laxity associated with aging, as a result of a loss of tone in the medial or lateral tendons. It generally affects the lower eyelid. Ectropion may also appear after facial paralysis or trauma.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Symptoms<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ectropion produces chronic irritation of the eyelid and eye, which is red and tearing.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><\/p>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" class=\"s1\">This outpatient surgical procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, and consists of\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">re<\/span><span class=\"s1\">positioning the outer edge of the eyelid against the eyeball.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">In the days immediately following the procedure, there may be some swelling and bruising, but they usually disappear after
