transepithelial PKR for faster recovery with less discomfort.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">PKR (Refractive Photokeratectomy) is a technique for correcting vision using a laser. <strong>It can correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>In a PKR<\/strong>, the thin surface layer of the cornea (the epithelium) is removed. The corneal tissue is then modelled directly on the surface with the excimer laser. The Centre Ophtalmologique Place de Paris is proud to be the first centre in Luxembourg to offer you &#8220;StreamLight&#8221;, a new transepithelial PKR technique that uses the excimer laser to remove the epithelium.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So it is the same excimer laser that vaporises the epithelium and resculpts the corneal surface to correct the visual defect. Unlike a &#8220;classic&#8221; PRK, <strong>there is no contact with the eye being treated during the procedure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Transepithelial PKR can be offered to patients with thin corneas or martial artists who are not candidates for LASIK.
